Capital One Venture Rewards Card Review

I’ve been a fan of Capital One’s Venture Rewards and VentureOne Rewards credit cards for some time now. Between the fact that Capital One charges no foreign transaction fees, unlike many other banks, and the flexibility of their miles redemption (in the case of Venture Rewards, you can redeem them for “any travel expense”), these just might be the two best travel credit cards out there this fall.

Here’s a quick rundown on both cards:

Capital One Venture Rewards offers “2 miles per dollar on every purchase, every day” and a current promotion allows you to earn 10,000 bonus miles, equal to $100 in travel. Miles don’t expire and there are no blackout dates. The Venture Rewards credit card offers $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $59 yearly after that. (VentureOne Rewards, explained below, has no annual fee.) Compare with competing cards, review offer details, and apply online right here.

My dad has this particular card and loves it. He used it almost exclusively on our crazy, long road trip from Las Vegas to South Florida. Undoubtedly the strangest part of the trip was a lonely stretch of road near Area 51, but that’s material for another post altogether!

VentureOne Rewards offers “1.25 miles per dollar on every purchase, every day” and there’s also a 10,000 bonus miles promotion available, plus 0% intro APR on purchases until October 2012. No annual fee. Compare with other lucrative cards in the “travel/airline credit cards” category and apply online here.

FYI — VentureOne Rewards is an attractive shiny gold-coloured card, whereas Venture Rewards is a dark blue. Both cards are fairly easy on the eyes, but a card’s design should not really enter into your decision making process, obviously. Go for the best deal.
