Hello! Here’s what’s happening on Thursday.

1. The US and China signed trade deals worth are set to sign deals worth $US253 billion. Trump is currently in China on a “state visit-plus” as part of his 13-day tour of Asia.

2. Spain’s top court officially cancelled Catalonia’s declaration of independence. The region announced its autonomy in October, and many of its leaders fled Spain after warrants were issued for their arrest.

3. UK Prime Minister Theresa May has lost another Cabinet member. International Development Secretary Priti Patel resigned over unauthorised meetings with members of the Israeli government.

4. NATO agreed to step up cyber weaponry to combat Russia. The new missions are part of the alliance’s creation of two new command centres to help protect Europe.

5. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said he will confront China about the South China Sea. Duterte said he will raise the dispute at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in Vietnam this week.

6. Also at APEC later this week, the Kremlin expects President Vladimir Putin to meet with Trump. An official says the probability of a face-to-face meeting between the leaders was “quite high” and there is a “full agenda.”

7. Egypt pledged its support for “wise” Saudi Arabia in their stand off with Iran. Saudi Arabia has said that Iran’s supply of missiles to militia in Yemen could constitute an “act of war”.

8. Yemen now faces the world’s biggest famine in decades. A UN official said there could be “millions of victims” if aid deliveries can’t be continued after access to the country was closed.

9. Argentina wants the US to block Venezuela’s oil exports. The US recently sanctioned several Venezuelan officials but targeting Venezuela’s oil sector is seen as the most drastic action the US could take.

10. More than 100 people have died since Typhoon Damrey hit central Vietnam. The central Vietnamese city of Danang, which has been heavily affected by Damrey flooding, will host Trump at APEC later this week.
