Ted Cruz projected to pull out a victory over Donald Trump in Texas

Ted Cruz has won the Republican presidential primary in his home state of Texas during the Super Tuesday contests, according to multiple outlets and television networks.

The senator pulled out a victory over Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, who was optimistic that he could prevail over Cruz in the state.

The win was Cruz’s first of the night on Super Tuesday, as Republican voters in a dozen states weighed in on the 2016 primary process. It was also his second victory of the election season. He won last month’s Iowa Republican caucuses, the first contest of the season.
