TechStars NYC, led by David Tisch and David Cohen, is entering its third cycle. The three month accelerator has chosen 14 startups for its new class, making this the biggest TechStars NYC group yet.

30 new mentors have joined the program, and all 100+ of them were briefed on the chosen startups Tuesday night.

We’ve learned there were 1,500 applications and Tisch personally met 800 of them.

Of the 14 startups selected, six are cofounded by women. One of the founders was an Oscar nominee. The NFL player who applied did not make it.

Tisch will be revealing the names of the chosen startups later this week.
