Sydney is about to get hit by a massive thunderstorm.
The Bureau of Meteorology has just issued a very ominous chart, warning locals of its danger.
The “very dangerous thunderstorms” are moving towards the east. They are likely to bring heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging, locally destructive winds and large, possibly “giant hailstones”.
Campbelltown, Appin and Helensburgh are forecast to be affected by 4:45 pm and Sutherland, Sydney Airport and Maroubra by 5:15 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Wollongong.
They are forecast to affect Parramatta, Sydney City, Sydney Olympic Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge by 4:45 pm and Manly, Randwick and waters off Bondi Beach by 5:15 pm.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:20 pm.
