Any shopper addicted to the mass warehouse that is the Costco superstore knows it’s a place to stock up on bulk-quantities of household items, cleaning supplies, and grocery staples. Not everyone, however, knows about some of Costco’s more high-end offerings like a $US400,000 diamond engagement ring that previously made headlines.

Members of the wholesale retailer looking to spend some serious cash can also buy an emergency food stash and a Bluetooth-equipped massage chair, among other items.

Here are 20 surprising expensive items to be found at Costco.

A chandelier made with hand-cut crystals costs $US2,499.99.

A professional-grade espresso machine is retailing for $US2,999.99.

Caffeine-lovers can find joy in Costco’s most expensive espresso-maker, the Z6 Automatic Coffee Machine. The product description on Costco’s website says the high-tech machine is inspired by “the world’s best baristas” and makes “possibly the best espresso of all time.”

According to the product description on Costco’s website, the innovative nozzle on the store’s most expensive coffee-maker “prepares fine, compact, and very tempting milk foam.”

A scooter that lets you travel underwater can be yours for $US549.99.

The Sublue Whiteshark Mix Underwater Scooter (not pictured) has an interesting, if oddly specific, use: It claims to allow people to glide under the surface of just about any body of water. It weighs 7.7 pounds and runs on an FAA-compliant battery, so travellers can bring the scooter with them on vacation.

A mini grand electronic piano costs $US5,499.99.

The Roland Mini Grand Digital Piano Bundle is Costco’s most-expensive piano at $US5,499.99. It includes a 10-year in-home warranty, Bluetooth connection through a free iOS/Android app, and, according to an online review of the piano on Costco’s website, a variety of sound and instrument playback options. According to one review, “It replicates many keyboard instruments such as a great jazz organ and electric piano.”

A larger-than-life teddy bear costs $US249.99.

You can have a beverage and snack vending machine in your house for $US3,999.

Businesses can find tons of commercial-grade products and bulk items at the warehouse. This plug-in ready vending machine is the most expensive in its category on Costco’s website, and it has surprisingly high-tech features like energy-efficient wiring and a pre-cooled drawer.

A freestanding wine cellar is retailing for $US4,299.99.

For only slightly more money than an entire vending machine, Costco members can buy a massive wine cellar. Costco’s highest-priced wine storage unit stores up to 400 bottles, something wine-enthusiasts can definitely write home about. It includes cooling technology that remains at a “library quiet” sound level and a low-emission, energy-efficient glass door.

For those cosy winter nights, you can get an electric fireplace for $US529.99.

The Sable Mills Electric Fireplace comes with a multi-functional remote control, three flame brightness levels, 13 temperature settings, and heats up to 400-square-feet of space. The grey stone electric fireplace has gotten positive reviews – it has an almost five-star rating on Costco’s website.

A year’s supply of emergency food is selling for $US3,699.99.

Costco means business when it comes to bulk, which is why it has a product category called “Emergency Food by the Pallet.” The most expensive supply of emergency food is the Nutristore 2 Person 18 Month Supply Emergency Food Bucket Pallet, which retails for $US3,699.99 on Costco’s website. It includes 36 buckets filled with food. Each bucket contains a 30-day supply of food for one person and includes meals like stroganoff, mac and cheese, and buttermilk pancakes, all of which have an up-to-25-year sealed shelf life.

Costco also sells a 36.5-pound pack of authentic Japanese Wagyu beef for $US2,499.99.

The “experience pack” comes with seven selected cuts from A5 Japanese Wagyu beef, including 16 boneless short plate ribs, eight flank steaks, two skirt steaks, 10 chuck roll steaks, six pub steaks, two flat irons, one striploin roast, and six ground beef rolls. The meat arrives frozen and uncooked and has a shelf life of 12 months.

Seafood lovers can also stock up on 10 pounds of King Crab meat for $US379.99.

You can relax is a Costco massage chair with a built-in Bluetooth sound system for $US6,999.99.

Most Costco members are aware of the retailer’s deals on furniture and appliances, but not all shoppers know about its massage and relaxation products. The Osaki OS-4D Pro Maestro (not pictured) is $US6,999.99, making it the priciest massage chair sold by Costco.

It includes luxury features like 4D heated rollers (which, according to the product description, give the illusion of hot stones), hi-def Bluetooth speakers, and settings like “knee kneading” and “ankle air massage.”

Costco has sold out most of its hot tubs and pools, but it still sells an above-ground pool set for $US699.99.

The large above-ground pool from Bestway comes with a maintenance kit, ChemConnect dispenser, sand filter, solar water heater, pool ladder, and pool cover.

One of the most expensive men’s watches on the Costco site is a Raymond Weil watch, which retails for $US1,349.99.

One of the most expensive rings is the oval cut ruby and diamond ring, which retails for $US114,999.99 at Costco. This one-of-a-kind 3.99-carat gemstone sits on a platinum band, and according to Costco’s website, is inspected by a team of “graduate gemologists.”
