Sotheby’s announced today that it will auction off the Sun-Drop diamond—a 110-carat hunk of carbon that ranks as the largest known pear-shaped fancy vivid yellow diamond in the world—at an auction in November. The diamond is one of the most impressive to come on the market in recent years. It’s one of the largest diamonds to appear at auction in recent years, and its colour makes it even more rare.
The stone was discovered in South Africa in 2010 and had been on display at London’s Natural History Museum.
It’s expected to sell in the range of $11 to $15 million at the Nov. 15 auction in Geneva.
