Bitcoin briefly tops $US6,000. The cryptocurrency hit a record high of $US6,063 a coin late Friday, according to Bloomberg data. It currently trades down 1.74% at $US5,869.
ICE is reportedly buying a stake in one of Europe’s most important clearinghouses. The Intercontinential Exchange, owner of the New York Stock Exchange, will buy a 4% stake in Euroclear, which clears trades on assets like stocks and bonds, for about £200 million ($US263.5 million), Sky News reports.
Merrill Lynch was fined by the UK for failing to report transactions. The Financial Conduct Authority fined the investment bank £34.5 million ($US45.4 million) for failing to report more than 68 million exchange traded derivative transactions between 2014 and 2016.
