It’s been a long time coming, but definitely worth the wait.Spotify finally released its iPad app today and it’s a massive improvement over its app for iPhone.

The app has full support for the new iPad’s high-res Retina display. You can also beam your music to your Apple TV using AirPlay.

But you really have to see the app to understand what makes it so great. We have a bunch of screenshots below for you to check out.

The app is free, but you’ll need a premium Spotify subscription to use it. That’ll cost you $9.99 per month.

Here's the Spotify app. Tap to open.

The welcome screen is beautiful. The album art in the back slides across your screen. It looks great on the new iPad's Retina display. You can log in using Facebook or your Spotify ID. We'll use the latter.

Enter your credentials to log in. Now the fun begins...

Tap a playlist, and a new screen slides over with more details. Tap the play button to listen.

Your current song shows up in a bar at the bottom of your screen. If you want a full-screen view, tap the arrows next to the album art.

Here's the full-screen view of currently playing songs. You can swipe through the album art at the top to skip to the next song in the playlist.

Spotify lets you share what you're listening to on Facebook, Twitter, or email. Thanks to the iPad's built-in Twitter integration, it's really easy to share stuff.

This is what it looks like when you're about to tweet a song or playlist. Spotify uses the iPad's Twitter feature.

You can add songs in a playlist to one of your older playlists or create a brand new playlist.

The search tab is very useful. Just type in a song, album, or artist, and all the relevant information pops up.

When you tap the album or artist, a new window slides over with more details. You can either start playing the songs or swipe the window away to go back a screen.

The Playlists tab lets you view and manage all your playlists. You can also save playlists directly to your iPad so you can listen offline.

With this view, you can see all the songs your friends are listening to. If you like his or her playlist, you can add it to your own library. This is a great way to discover new music.

Finally, the settings button at the bottom has a bunch of different options. You can choose sound quality, sharing settings, etc.

Now check out another hot new iPad app...
