Leave it to the Australians to come up with a solution to one of life’s most perplexing problems — how to get drunk while in outer space.
It’s not easy for astronauts to consume booze while in orbit, since their tongues swell and they lose their sense of taste, according to The Daily Mail.
And there’s also the issue of carbonation, since in space, gas and liquid come up together in what is known as a “wet burp.”
The solution, devised by the owners of 4 Pines Brewing Co., a microbrewery?
A “full-bodied, flavoursome, stout-style beer” that is “low in carbonation,”The Daily Mail explains.
The brew, called Vostok 4 Pines Stout, comes just in time: Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic and other space tourism companies are on the verge of launching their inaugural flights.
Here’s a taste test of Vostok in a zero gravity chamber — the biggest problem seems to be the bottle.
