UPDATE: While Zynga would not confirm the news earlier this morning, it now says Draw Something has passed 50 million downloads. It hit 50 million downloads in 50 days. Zynga also says more than 6 billion drawings have been created.Appdata charts suggest Draw Something downloads have slowed since Zynga’s acquisition of OMGPOP 14 days ago.

But Appdata only shows data from people who play Draw Something via Facebook login.  Having spoken with CEO Dan Porter prior to OMGPOP’s acquisition, a good chunk of Draw Something’s users don’t use Facebook to play the game.

A source tells us that Draw Something downloads are still rolling in.  It will hit 50 million downloads within a day or two.

Some simple maths backs that up.

Draw Something’s free version is still the #1 app in the US store. So is the paid version. It’s the #2 grossing app behind Tap4Fun’s Galaxy Empire (and above Angry Birds Space).

The #1 app can easily rake in 800,000 to 1 million downloads per day.  Today is the 14th day since the OMGPOP acquisition, when Draw Something last reported it had 35 million downloads.

35 million + 14 million = 49 million downloads.

By that maths, Draw Something will hit 50 million downloads on Thursday.

That would make Draw Something quite possibly the fastest app to ever reach 50 million downloads.

The source also says active users are at an all time high.

Zynga and OMGPOP PR declined to comment.
