Several paintings belonging to the late Theodore J. Forstmann, a Manhattan financier, were also included in the sale. One of them, Picasso’s “Femme Assise Dans un Fauteuil,” a 1941 portrait of Dora Maar, sold for $26 million, making it the second most expensive item of the evening.
