Australia went to the polls today — the country’s first double-dissolution election since 1987.
As highlighted by Paul Colgan, Turnbull is expected to retain power, his policy agenda will be beholden to the composition of the Senate, and with a surge in support for independents, the arithmetic and politics of the new upper house are highly uncertain. Read more here.
While people cast their votes, dogs have been forced to wait outside, and people are taking to Twitter to post photos of their pooches waiting at polling stations.
