Ben Milne is a proud Iowa resident. The CEO of a payment startup, Dwolla, he has said time and again he will always keep his company in the middle of America.But on stage last week at Startup 2012, he said something different. Finding tech talent is so difficult that, if he could do it all over again, Milne says he would have gone to Silicon Valley to recruit developers.
“A lot of people would get p*ssed at me for saying this, but sh*t, I would have gone to The Valley,” says Milne. “Where else in the world are people already pre-programmed to take huge risks in their lives, where people are dreaming around them to throw a ton of money into an idea that doesn’t even exist because, oh my god, it sounds so good over dinner?”
