Shares in DigitalX soared after the ASX-listed blockchain software company gave a market update on the continued appreciation in the price of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

The company in June announced a $4.35 million investment from Blockchain Global Limited.

DigitalX decided to take $2 million of the investment in Bitcoins rather than Australian Dollars. At that time, this amounted to 345.8921 Bitcoins BTC at a price of $A5782.

The company currently holds 453 Bitcoins. At today’s price of $US7299, DigitalX’s holding is worth $USD3.3 million ($A4.3 million).

At the close, the shares were up 20% to $0.24.

Blockchain Global, an Australian company offering Bitcoin and blockchain services internationally, has about 40% of DigitalX.
