Quick heads up: Some GOP Senators are on the floor right now (live on C-SPAN 2) taking turns taking shots at The President for his “confrontation” speech.
The gist is: They’re annoyed with the President, but not talking about it as though the deal is exploded. In fact, they’re kind of talking about the current fight in the past tense.
But they all are talking about the “bigger battle” and that’s the debt ceiling fight in the next couple of months.
Said Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) “the big battle is yet to come.”
Senator Lindsday Graham said that there needs to be a deal to change entitlements, and that he was willing to be the “Tip O’Neill” to Obama’s “Ronald Reagan” a reference to the agreement that Reagan and O’neill came to back in the 80s to tweak Social Security.
