This Is What Scott Thompson Will Say When He's Forced To Resign As CEO Of Yahoo

Yahoo may be looking at its 4th CEO in a year, thanks to CEO Scott Thompson’s new résumé-gate.If you’re not caught up, the hedge fund manager Dan Loeb revealed that Thompson did not have a degree in Computer Science from Stonehill College, as he had claimed on his official bio.

Instead he has a degree in accounting.

Thus, there are big questions about whether he can survive this.

Yahoo has already rushed out a lame defence about it being an irrelevant error, but that won’t be enough. It’s possible that he’ll say it’s been years since he looked at any self-bio and that he had no idea how it got there, but even that might be enough.

So what he’ll probably say is:

Dear Yahoo Board,

It’s been my pleasure to serve the board and shareholders as the CEO of Yahoo. While the mistake on my bio was a pure accident, I see that this has become a distraction during this critical turnaround period. Thus I am submitting my resignation.

Sincerely,

Scott Thompson.
