Scott Thompson Is Sorry That This Mess Is Distracting Everybody At Yahoo

Scott Thompson must be feeling the heat from Yahoo employees who are upset he padded his resume by claiming a computer science degree.He just sent around an apologetic memo, which Kara Swisher at AllThingsD got ahold of.

Note that he does not apologise for the actual indiscretion of  lying (or letting an underling lie) about his experience, though.

Instead, it’s all about how this flap has hurt the company.

The key part:

As I told you on Friday, the board is reviewing the issue and I will provide whatever they need from me. In the meantime, I want you to know how deeply I regret how this issue has affected the company and all of you. We have all been working very hard to move the company forward, and this has had the opposite effect. For that, I take full responsibility, and I want to apologise to you
