“Saturday Night Live” executive producer Lorne Michaels is feeling merciful this year.
For the first time since 2009, all of last season’s “Saturday Night Live” cast members will return to the show this year.
It’s no surprise for off-season megastars like Kristen Wiig and last-season breakouts like Nasim Pedrad (pictured here) who saw her screen time soar.
But it’s a major relief for newbies Jay Pharoah, Maggie Bayer and Paul Brittain.
Michaels also dropped some hosting tidbits:
Alec Baldwin will host the season premiere (so, although Michaels said yesterday “30 Rock” isn’t ending, and will go on with or without Baldwin, it appears things are good between the two comedy maestros).
And the second episode goes to “Bridesmaids” star Melissa McCarthy, who’s nominated for an Emmy for her work on CBS’s “Mike and Molly.”
