Sarah Palin has just wrapped up a guest stint on the Today Show, and the appearance was bizarre, but oddly charming.
Palin kicked off the show on a sweetly, self-deprecating note, burying her head in a newspaper for her first shot on camera.
“Oh man, she’s doing her homework!” host Matt Lauer joked.
Palin later sat down with Lauer to discuss the 2012 presidential — and vice presidential race.
“What I would advise the nominee, Mitt Romney, or whomever the nominee is: Don’t necessarily play it safe and do just what the GOP establishment expects them to do,” Palin said. But she added “It doesn’t matter if that person has national level experience or not, they’re gonna get clobbered by the lamestream media who does not like the conservative message. It doesn’t matter if they’re a known commodity to the mainstream, lamestream, or not.”
At that point, Lauer reminded her that, as a guest host on the Today Show, she is now part of the lamestream media.
To lighten the mood, the Today Show team and Palin then went into a quick segment about pop culture, in which Palin weighed in on Jessica Simpson’s pregnancy and whether or not Ashton Kutcher is the right choice to play Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic.
Here’s a clip of Lauer’s interview with Palin:
