Ryan Lochte Loses Again, Settles For Bronze In The 200-Meter Backstroke

Ryan Lochte lost a big lead in the 200 meter backstroke final and took the bronze medal after American Tyler Clary and Ryosuke Irie of Japan passed him in the final 50 meters. Lochte went out very quickly and may have used up his energy too soon. Lochte led through the 150-meter mark, but Clary picked up ground with a great final turn and chased down Lochte, who was the heavy favourite.

Lochte has another massive final in just a half hour — a showdown with Michael Phelps in the 200 meter individual medley.
