Russia has curtailed its gas supplies to Europe for the third day straight, the WSJ reports.According to AP reports, some states have seen their gas supplies fall by up to 30 per cent in the period, which has also seen a severe cold snap that has killed 169 people so far.

A spokeswoman for EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger told reporters, “Russia needs more gas itself, they are having an extremely cold winter.”

Russia’s gas imports account for around 25 per cent of Europe’s total, according to the WSJ, and the European relationship with Russia has been described as “codependent” because of gas.
