On the other hand, the webcams did provide Russian viewers with a glimpse into a sometimes unglamorous side of Russian politics. Kevin O’Flynn for the Moscow Times reports that one particularly popular webcam showed a make-shift voting booth in a private house in the small village of Meseda. A baby in the shot became popular on Twitter.
“Another polling station was crammed into a shop, just to the right of a display of piles of oranges. Another showed a young couple making out before voting began, and another revealed the legs of a sleeping man sticking out from a voting-booth curtain the night before the polls opened.”
