Some were surprised when Apple didn’t announce a refresh for the iMac desktop at its developers conference this year. Now, one report claims we might still see a new iMac before the end of the year.DigiTimes reports hearing from its supply chain sources that Apple’s suppliers are planning to start providing components for manufacturing the new iMac this month, with the goal being to launch the new computer as soon as October.

DigiTimes also says there is a “high chance” the new iMac desktop will feature Retina Display, as Apple is apparently planning to roll this out to all of its computers.

Take this report with a grain of salt though. One anonymous Apple exec previously told the New York Times that the company would probably release a new iMac and Mac Pro sometime in early 2013.
