There’s been a lot of mudslinging going on in Iowa today.
And apart from Newt Gingrich calling Mitt Romney a liar much of the slinging has been aimed in the direction of Ron Paul, who continues to reside at the top of the polls along with Romney and Santorum.
After his appearance on ‘Fox & Friends’ this morning Rick Santorum told some Fox News and Business reporters that he thinks “Ron Paul is disgusting”; Santorum blames the Paul camp for robocalls that claim he is pro-choice and anti-second amendment (related: this is the second time Fox has published and off-set exchange. They also reported on Mitt Romney complaining to Bret Baier that his interview had been unfair.)
Meanwhile, on ‘Morning Joe’ this morning Mitt Romney said that while Paul “would be better than the President” he considers him “dangerous”:
Scarborough: “Do you believe that Ron Paul’s foreign policy positions on Iran are dangerous?
Romney: “I do. I think he has a number of positions, particularly on foreign policy, with which I disagree quite vehemently…I think he would be better than the president but I would have to work with him long and hard to keep him from pursuing a series of policies.”
And then there is Michele Bachmann, who is running around Iowa frantically trying to get some attention in the hopes of raising her rock-bottom poll numbers. This morning she told C-Span’s ‘Washington Journal’ show that Ron Paul’s foreign policy platforms are “madness” and that he wants to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth.”
Translation: Everyone in Iowa is worried about Ron Paul’s chances.
