Millionaire property developer Ron Medich has been found guilty of ordering the murder of former business associate Michael McGurk in 2009.
Medich, 70, pleaded not guilty to murdering McGurk, 45, and later intimidating McGurk’s wife Kimberly.
Today, the jury found Medich guilty of both crimes.
It was the second trial against Medich after a jury in 2017 had been unable to reach a verdict.
The crown prosecutor told the court that the work relationship between McGurk and Medich had become “extremely hostile” after property deals had soured.
The court was told Medich paid a total of $500,000 to former boxer Fortunato ‘Lucky’ Gattellari who arranged the fatal shooting.
Gattellari pleaded guilty to his role in the murder and received a discounted sentence after giving evidence against Medich.
