Roger Federer beat Andy Murray today in four sets to win the Wimbledon championship for a record-tying seventh time. He joins Pete Sampras with the most during the Open era. It is also Sampras’ 17th grand slam title, extending his own record.
But more importantly for Great Britain, with Andy Murray losing, it extends the drought to 77 Wimbledon tournaments since the last time a Brit won tennis’ biggest event.
