Robotic device gives disabled people freedom to stand and move around independently

Matia Robotics has re-invented the wheelchair to give people with walking disabilities much more freedom with their movement.

It is called the Tek RMD and it allows users to stand as they move around. It also has a suspension system which can adjust the height of the device to reach things in a cupboard or on the lowest shelves in a supermarket.

A full charge will power the device for 1-2 days depending on the weight of the user.

The company says it will be available in the US and UK, with a recommended global price of around £15,000.
