In a web video riffing off Chrysler’s celebrated Super Bowl ad, the Democratic National Committee is slamming Republican front-runner and Michigan native Mitt Romney for opposing the auto bailouts.
The dramatic voice over says: “This city — where American rubber meets the road. A town that has been to hell and back. So what was his answer for the Motor City?” At which point Romney is heard saying “let Detroit go bankrupt.”
The DNC has exclusively targeted Romney so far this election cycle, believing him to be the strongest candidates Republicans have to offer against Obama.
Noting that now Romney is back in Michigan to ask for votes — and for Wednesday’s CNBC presidential debate — the DNC says “Hit the Road, Mitt.”
