Global Finance Magazine has named its picks for best internet banks in the world and RBC and Standard Chartered came out on top for consumers. International bank Standard Chartered beat out more than 230 challengers to be named the best consumer internet bank at the global level, the magazine said.
RBC nabbed the top regional spot in North America, winning high marks for its online customer service, web offerings, website design and the overall growth of its customer base, the magazine said.
RBC, which is under the umbrella of the Royal Bank of Canada, operates in only half a dozen states in the Southeast, including more than 400 full-service banking centres. But apparently size didn’t matter, as it beat out financial giants like Wells Fargo and HSBC for the honour.
The 12th annual awards ceremony was judged by representatives from business technology consulting firm Infosys, with Global Finance editors having final say in the winners.
Winners were chosen based on their strategy for attracting online customers, the variety of products offered and their customer service strengths, the magazine said.
