A rare Ferrari GTO reportedly sold in the last two weeks to a private buyer for $32 million, making it one of the most expensive cars ever sold, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.News of the sale comes from four dealers in Paris for Retromobile, the country’s biggest annual classic car show.
While the buyer was not identified, the sale was said to have occurred in the past two weeks, Bloomberg’s Scott Reyburn reports. The Ferrari racer was “an early example, had a competition history and was in well-preserved condition with original paint,” the dealers told Reyburn.
It was one of just 36 GTO models produced by Ferrari between 1962 and 1963. Last summer, a Ferrari Testa Rossa became the most expensive car ever sold at auction when it was purchased for $16.4 million at Pebble Beach.
The centrepiece of this year’s Retromobile is a Bugatti that is believed to have been privately purchased in 2010 for a record-breaking $40 million.
