The Hollywood Reporter is reporting MSNBC has signed Rachel Maddow to a new multi-year contract.
Maddow’s current contract with the network was reportedly set to expire next year and execs there were apparently concerned she might heed the siren call of former mentor Keith Olbermann and jump to Current.
Needless to say, the reality of this actually happening was pretty unlikely considering by her own admission Maddow hasn’t spoken to Olby since he departed the network in January, but MSNBC apparently did not want to take any chances with their star anchor.
Maddow is not the only one they ‘locked’ down. HR says they have also signed WaPo‘s Eugene Robinson and Ezra Klein as well as Chris Hayes, Washington editor of The Nation.
Al Sharpton, rumoured to be taking over the 6pm slot, is still in negotiations.
