A new airline wager between Qantas and Air New Zealand was brewing on Twitter ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup final between the Wallabies and All Blacks.

The two national airline carriers of Australia and New Zealand had taken to social media to bet on the winner of the match which took place early morning on Sunday.

The friendly banter started when Air New Zealand suggested Qantas paint its airplanes black with “Dan’s the man”, “Go Richie!!!” and “Simply the best” written all over it.

Qantas was quick to fire back with their own rendition before settling on a deal to wear the New Zealand rugby jerseys on Monday if the All Blacks win the Cup.

The All Blacks who are back-to-back champions, sealed another Rugby World Cup win in a thrilling match against the Wallabies winning 34-17.

Here’s a look at how the bet played out.

Air New Zealand began negotiations with a reasonable offer if the All Blacks took the crown.

But Qantas had their own idea how the Air New Zealand planes should look.

Air New Zealand fired back with a witty remark…

But Qantas was having none of it.

Qantas finally settled with donning the All Blacks jersey on Monday morning…

While Air New Zealand would have to announce the win if the Wallabies won.
