An Arab Newspaper Says Qaddafi Is Negotiating With The Rebels To Leave The Country

While Qaddafi’s forces continue to pummel the rebels, two reports suggest he may be backing down.

First, sources tell Pan-Arab newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat that Qaddafi sent a negotiator to the Transitional National Council to arrange his departure from the country in exchange for guaranteeing his and his family’s safety, according to the BBC.

Second, a Jordanian newspaper quotes Marwan Alfaouri of Alwasateya Forum as saying that “Qaddafi offered a democratic transfer of power within six months” (via @SultanAlQassemi).

Oil may be slipping on the rumours.

Gold too.
