Nelly Furtado isn’t going to mess with diabolical dictators — and she’s putting her money where her mouth is.
When reports broke last week that several A-list pop stars had netted millions playing for the family of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, Furtado wasn’t a focus. Beyonce, Usher and Mariah Carey were the three singers being pinpointed for having entertained Qaddafi’s sons.
But yesterday, Furtado tweeted that in 2007, she performed for the family in Italy and was paid $1 million. She said she’ll be donating that money to charity.
So Furtado has set a good example (and we’re not at all biased by the fact that it turns out she follows @alleyinsider on Twitter).
Now let’s set the clock and see how long it takes for the rest of the stars to follow suit.
So far, the normally big-voiced Beyonce, Usher and Carey have all stayed quiet on the subject.
