The latest numbers from independent polling centre Levada centre show support for Vladimir Putin’s as a President is at its lowest for a decade and Putin’s party is suffering a similar drop in support.Putin’s support is now at 61%, a drop of 5 points. United Russia’s support dropped further, from 60 per cent to 51 per cent.
With those numbers it looks like United Russia could lose its two thirds majority in the Russian Duma.
As Reuters notes, these numbers may seem huge when compared to approval numbers in the United States or Western Europe, its worth bearing in mind the last time Putin’s numbers were so low was during the Kursk submarine disaster.
