Blogging platform Posterous is reinventing itself as a mobile sharing app for groups, TechCrunch says.So it’s finally throwing the towel: it’s been trying since 2008 to catch up to its better-designed competitor Tumblr, even calling their users to defect in a ballsy move which we liked.
Now Posterous’ focus is a mobile app which makes it dead simple to share media like pictures and other things. There’s still a website, but the focus is the mobile sharing experience, something which puts them more in competititon with the likes of Instagram. It seems that after trying once, they’d be wary of going after a sleekly-designed product with a rabid audience who were early to market again.
That being said, Posterous has always been a nice product and some of our friends like it, so hopefully Posterous 2.0 will be a success.
