A Minneapolis woman paid $22 to send a box via priority mail to Georgia. She told the postal clerk to ignore any sounds the box made, as it contained a toy robot.Actually the box contained a four-month-old puppy named Guess. The woman had punched air holes in the box, but subsequently covered these holes with tape.
Postal workers quickly identified the dog.
The woman, Stacey Champion, now faces charges for misdemeanour animal cruelty. Her dog remains at a local animal control facility, where he’ll be put up for adoption if Champion loses the case.
Police Sgt. Angela Dodge told to Star Tribune: “It’s just crazy. It was supposed to be a birthday gift for a family member. It would have been kind of traumatizing to get a dead puppy.'”
