- Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi has accused Steven Seagal of sexual harassment.
- She said the film producer “sat me down and unzipped his leather pants” at an audition.
- Dozens of people have come forward to accuse powerful industry figures of sexual harassment, in what’s been dubbed the “Weinstein ripple effect.”
Portia de Rossi has accused Steven Seagal of sexual harassment.
In a tweet on Wednesday night, the Australian actress said the producer “sat me down and unzipped his leather pants,” while explaining to her “how important it was to have chemistry off-screen” at an audition.
She added that her agent was “unfazed” when told of the matter. Here’s the tweet in full:
Seagal has not responded to the allegations made against him, The Guardian reported.
De Rossi’s wife, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, retweeted the actress’ post with the caption: “I’m proud of my wife.”
De Rossi’s allegation adds to the growing list of sexual harassment accusations against powerful men after The New York Times published a report last month outlining multiple allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein.
The wave of accusations against powerful figures — including “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey, magician David Blaine, and former president George H.W. Bush — has been dubbed the “Weinstein ripple effect.”
My final audition for a Steven Segal movie took place in his office. He told me how important it was to have chemistry off-screen as he sat me down and unzipped his leather pants. I️ ran out and called my agent. Unfazed, she replied, “well, I didn’t know if he was your type.”
