Recent scandals in China — most notably the Bo Xilai saga — have everyone questioning the role of corruption in Chinese society, and how that corruption will affect the country’s economic growth.
However, there’s another big issue in Chinese society, and if a new poll from Gallup is to be believed, it seems that the Chinese public prioritizes it above economic concerns.
Gallup notes that countries in periods of economic growth tend to favour environmental policies over economic policies (such as in the US between 1985-2008), but will the BRICs still favour the policies if their economies slow down?
