Politics In 60 Seconds

Greetings, Mitt Romney won Super Tuesday and no one can tell you differently. The Santorum and Gingrich campaigns have no possibility of collecting enough delegates to win. Their quest is to deny Mitt Romney a clean victory and hope that they gather so much momentum that they come out ahead in a broken convention.

But at what cost to the party?

GOP leaders may have no leverage over Santorum or Gingrich. The former was left for dead after his loss in 06. The latter many simply wish would go away. But GOP governors like Jeb Bush and high profile Senators like Jim DeMint could begin making the argument to the public that Santorum and Gingrich are hurting the party and therefore helping Obama. Done with enough savvy, these efforts put the brakes on any momentum going forward, and subsequently give Romney some propulsion as well.

The only question is when will it happen?

Not Politics But…

From Texas Monthly, a story of how, in 1970 two teenagers disappeared from the Heights neighbourhood, in Houston. And how no one realised that the most prolific serial killer the country had ever seen—along with his teenage accomplices—was living comfortably among them.

What’s Next

The GOP race turns to Southern states and likely a string of Romney loses that mean very little in the delegate count but could mean everything in negative media coverage.
