A magician famous for eating a light bulb in fewer than 34 seconds couldn’t find his way out of handcuffs this week.Robert Williams was captured Wednesday in connection with a string of Brooklyn bank robberies.
Police caught the magic man after he tried to rob a bank he had already hit, the New York Times reported.
A teller at the Apple Bank in Midwood recognised Williams as he was writing a demand note on the back of the deposit slip.
Bank employees followed Williams when he left the bank and saw him emerge from a doorway wearing a different set of clothes.
Police arrested Williams at East 10th Street and Avenue P. At the time of his arrest, Williams was carrying a note for his next planned robbery and a bag containing his original clothes, the Times reported.
Williams was charged in connection with six robberies but police suspect he’s robbed at least five other banks, including two in Manhattan.
