We wrote yesterday about the sad case of an affluent housewife and her two kids who were found dead in an alleged murder-suicide.But police in the St. Louis case and saying they still aren’t sure what actually happened as new details emerge.
Mitch Murch called 911 Monday and said he had found the bodies of his wife, Cathy, and two children Mitch, 10, and Mary-Claire, 8. He said he had been reading a book when he heard a gunshot.
While initial reports suggested Cathy was always happy and cheerful, some anonymous sources later told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she’d battled depression for years.
In another twist, it was revealed that husband Mitch was fired from his marketing department job at Centaur Building Services. The firm confirmed that he was terminated but would not go into details about the parting, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
On his Facebook page, Mitch Murch said he was a fan of the shooting range, the Post-Dispatch reported. Police removed three rifles from the home, all with evidence tags hanging off them.
Investigators said they’d never been called to the home before. As of late Tuesday, police said they didn’t consider Mitch Murch to be a suspect in the case.
