Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams proposed to his girlfriend via snail mail on Valentine’s Day.Now, after having his proposal denied, he’s suing former Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels to regain possession of the $76,600 ring.

In an affidavit signed by Williams, the receiver says he sent Daniels a V-Day grab bag consisting of $5,000 for school and dental bills, a baseball for her brother, a marriage proposal, and a ring.

Daniels declined.

Williams says she first refused to return the ring, and then told him she lost it. But an insurance investigation by State Farm found that Brooke’s father Michael Daniels had it all along.

Now Michael has confirmed to the Odessa American that he has the ring, and plans to return it to Williams to avoid a lawsuit.

According to Michael Daniels:

“He said (to Brooke Daniels), ‘I’m not like a lot of people, I don’t want the ring back. You’ll eventually come back to me,’ and she didn’t.”
