PHOTOS: Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks

More than 1.5 million people flocked to vantage points around Sydney Harbour to watch the city’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

The eight tonnes of fireworks lasted 12 minutes and began with the word “Sydney” written across the Harbour Bridge.

A rainbow waterfall celebrated Australia’s recent same-sex marriage vote while actor Hugh Jackman designed a 20-second set to the music of late Indigenous singer Gurrumul Yunupingu.
