Inspiring Images Of A 400M favourite Hugging A Double Amputee

The fact that South African double amputee Oscar Pistorius raced well enough in the preliminary heats to qualify for the 400-meter men’s track semifinals is inspiring enough.

But what happened after an unfortunate last place finish in the semifinals shows exactly why the Olympic games are such an incredible event.

Here are Kirani James of Grenada, one of the favourites to medal in the 400-meter final Monday, and Pistorius exchanging bibs and embracing after their semifinal. James finished first to qualify for the final and Pistorius came in last place, nearly two seconds slower than James (h/t SB Nation).
