Phil Simms isn’t afraid to make the controversial comment. But his latest statement about college football’s Heisman favourite may top them all.”I’m sorry. I just don’t see big time NFL throws.”

That’s what the former quarterback and current CBS NFL analyst said on Sirius radio Tuesday about Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

Yes, the same Andrew Luck that is considered by many as the best college prospect since Peyton Manning. Yes, the same Andrew Luck that is the prohibitive favourite to be the 2012 NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick.

Luck has thrown for over 2,200 yards this season with a 23:4 touchdown to interception ratio for the undefeated Cardinal.

There’s no guarantee Luck will turn into the franchise quarterback people expect him to be. But it is guaranteed that Simms will look pretty stupid if he’s wrong.
