Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and administrator Gary Schultz will step down from their posts while they defend themselves against charges of perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse. They aren’t resigning, they’re going on administrative leave.
“The board, along with the entire Penn State family, is shocked and saddened by the allegations involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky,” said Board of Trustees chairman Steve Garban. “Under no circumstances does the University tolerate behaviour that would put children at risk, and we are deeply troubled.”
The annoucement came after an emergency trustees meeting in Happy Valley.
Joe Paterno’s job was not discussed at the meeting, a spokesperson told the Daily Collegian.
