Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn made just the second start of his career on Sunday. By the end of the game, Flynn had gone places that no other Packers quarterback had gone before. And with free agency looming, it couldn’t have come at a better time.Flynn threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns in the Packers 45-41 victory of the Lions. Both of those marks were the most in the history of the Packers franchise (SEE BELOW).
Now consider that the 90-year history of Packers quarterbacks includes names like Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers. Exactly.
Flynn’s big day also came at the perfect time. The former LSU quarterback was drafted by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2008 draft, and is only making $600 thousand this season. But Flynn will be a free agent after this season. And yesterday’s performance was better than any off-season workout.
