A district judge in Pennsylvania relocated his offices to a more secure courthouse after dismissing assault charges against a Muslim who allegedly attacked a man dressed as “zombie Muhammad” for Halloween, PennLive.com reports.Mechanicsburg District Judge Mark Martin has received threats from people upset that in handing down his decision, which he based on lack of evidence, he scolded the alleged victim, Ernest Perce V, for making fun of Islam.
“You have that right, but you’re way outside your bounds of First Amendment rights,” Martin said, according to CNN. “I think our forefathers intended that we use the First Amendment so that we can speak our mind, not to piss off other people and other cultures, which is what you did.”
Martin said his office received more than 200 phone calls and emails criticising his December ruling, PennLive reported.
The alleged attack was captured on video and posted to YouTube here.
